2023 NW Music Festival

As October comes so does Northwestern’s Middle School Music Festival, with students from Aberdeen Christian, Aberdeen Holgate, Aberdeen Roncalli, Bowdle, Edmunds Central, Eureka, Gettysburg, Groton, Hoven, Ipswich, Langford, Leola, Miller, Northwestern, Redfield, and Warner. With 200 students, 116 in the chorus and 84 in the band, there to either play in the band or sing in the choir have gathered to have a concert at 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 10, starting with chorus then going to band, and ending with a combined piece.

Northwestern choir participants included sixth-graders Brookelyn Anderson, Naomi Epp, August Fortin, William Helling, Ava Miller and Kodi Smith, seventh-grader Kyle Olson, and eighth-graders Dottie Gaboya, and Silven Hardin.

Northwestern band participants included sixth-graders Rachel Melius, playing the clarinet; Elexis Kramp, playing the alto saxophone; Kasen DeYoung on bari saxophone and Hadley Palmer, playing French horn, seventh-graders Carson Reppe, playing trumpet; Vera Swanson, playing French horn; and Austin Vetter, playing trombone; eighth-graders Faith VanHatten, playing the clarinet; Anneliese Holsing, playing the alto saxophone; Colton Smith, playing tenor saxophone; Drew Sparling and Talon Miller, playing trumpet; Beckett Halvorson, playing baritone; William Clemens and Jarren Haven, playing tubas; and Damian Larson on percussion.

Mrs. Katie Opp directed the choir while Mr. Jared Opp directed the band.
