Northwestern 2019 Graduate Samantha Olson Named South Dakota State FFA President

From FFA’s New Era June 2020 Edition

To wrap up the 92nd South Dakota State FFA Convention, six members were elected to serve as the 2020-2021 South Dakota State FFA officer team and two members were elected to serve as the 2020-2021 South Dakota State FFA ambassadors. Candidates vied for the six South Dakota leadership roles and went through extensive interviews. The individuals elected to the South Dakota State FFA officer team will travel across the state throughout the next year presenting speeches, facilitating workshops, hosting camps, holding conferences and conducting business for the South Dakota FFA Association. They will also represent the state of South Dakota at the National FFA Convention. When asked about their year of service, they shared, “We didn't start the year in a traditional way, or as planned; however, this unique experience has prepared our officer team to take on any challenge that we may encounter. We are very excited to be able to represent South Dakota FFA and continue sharing the importance of agricultural education."

Samantha’s Bio:

Samantha Olson is from Aberdeen, South Dakota. She is currently majoring in Math Education with a minor in Coaching at South Dakota State University. During her time in high school, Samantha’s favorite Leadership Development event was Agricultural Communications. For her SAE project, Samantha works with Angus Cattle to show them, as well as, helping with crops. Samantha joined FFA later than most students, she was able to join her sophomore year. She dove right in and began working very hard to catch up to her peers. Very soon she learned that no matter when you join, there is always room for new members in the FFA association. The FFA Association gave her an opportunity to flourish and find her interests. “Through hard work and dedication, the impossible is possible; just dream big and never be afraid to show who you are,” said Samantha Olson.

Congratulations Sam!
