Mrs. Denise Clemens was recently recognized for being selected as a South Dakota state-level finalist for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching

(PAEMST) program.

A high school science teacher at Northwestern, Clemens has been teaching for 25 years.

Before her current position, she taught science at Roncalli Parochial School in Aberdeen.

Clemens earned her bachelor of science in biology, environmental science, and chemistry from Northern State University in 1992 and her bachelor’s degree in 7-12 science and math education also from NSU in 1995.

Clemens has successfully led her students in Science Fair and Science/Quiz Bowl for 23 years. Clemens was a member of the 2015 SD Sci Leadership Cohort, worked with SD EPSCoR, and has participated in many professional workshops and opportunities across South Dakota.
